THE NOMINEES

-

Toronto R&B phenom The Weeknd leads the pack with nominations in six categories, including artist, songwriterand album of the year for Beauty Behind the Madness. Since he just snagged two Grammy Awards for the disc — and will attend and perform at the Junos — expect the artist formerly known as Abel Tesfaye to take home some hardware. Old hands Drake and Justin Bieber trail him with five nominations, while young bloods Alessia Cara and Shawn Mendes roped in four nods each. Other big nominees this year were Bryan Adams, Nickelback, Matthew Good, Sheepdogs, City and Colour, Hedley, Metric, Diana Krall, Johnny Reid and host Arden — plus the usual handful of massive global superstars who will definitely not be there to claim the prize for top international album.
