Fresh Peony

What it is: Skin care brand Fresh introduced three new products to its Peony Brightening collection: foam face cleanser, moisturizing facial toner and moisture face cream.

The system has a “proprietary brightening complex proven to even skin tone” thanks to ingredients like peony root extract (for calming and soothing skin), Vitamin C glucoside (to brighten), Licorice root extract (brightening and soothing) and shea seedcake (antioxidant protection).

The 24-hour moisturizing formula is attributed to the salt in hyaluronic acid. “Acting like a sponge, this natural ingredient reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by dehydration, giving skin a fuller appearance,” explains the brand’s press material.

What we say: Aimed at brightening skin and diminishing dark spots, this collection does appear to brighten and improve skin’s clarity. Our tester found age spots and an acne scar were less apparent with regular use of the products. The hydration benefit was fabulous as dry skin patches disappeared. The toner delivers on the moisture and calming effects. Our tester appreciated how easily skin was cleansed without any irritation. Skin stays hydrated for the 24-hour period — making other moisture products unnecessary unless overnight treatments are an important part of your regimen.
