Teeez Cosmetics

- Aleesha Harris

What it is: A line of cosmetics from the Dutch brand Teeez that focuses on delivering full-on colour — with fun packaging.

The brand’s tagline of “Explore. Experiment. Share” coincides with the brand’s comprehensive product range, youthful colour scheme and affordable price point, making this a brand best suited to young women.

“We’re keen on empowering you with innovative prêt-à-porter products in vivid colours hot off the catwalk,” the brand declares on its website.

Offering everything from nail polish to dual-ended lip colours and even a curated collection of makeup brushes all said to be inspired by runway fashions and trends, Teeez Cosmetics is a playful alternative to the tried-and-true drugstore and beauty counter brands.

What we say: The busy print of the packaging hooked our tester’s eye immediately.

The Spectrum of Stars eyeshadow was a quick favourite, offering an impressive colour payoff and smooth application thanks to the Argan oil formulation. The golden-vanilla colour (Vanilla Sunbeam) we tried was pretty and a perfect option for those who like the ‘no makeup’ look.

The Desert Metals mascara (which is available in four shades) was surprisingly volume-enhancing thanks to the use of silk proteins. The water-based formulation made for very easy removal with soap and water, which is a nice departure from mascaras that require aggressive scrubbing or oily makeup removers to dissolve.

The array of eyeliners is impressive — there’s basically a colour for every eye hue. It’s like a wardrobe for your lash line. Our favourite was the Cloud Nine eyeliner in Bronzed Glaze, an appealing brown that offers a departure from the classic black without being too crazy. The formula applied smoothly and had a nice, metallic shine that stayed far away from disco-ball territory.

Our tester was especially pleased with the fact this brand claims to not be tested on animals. And the majority of the Teeez Cosmetics products appear to be free of parabens and are dermatologist-tested.

Overall, Teeez Cosmetics offer fun, fashion-fuelled beauty products that deliver a good amount of colour and drama for the price point.
