Rahal edges Hinchcliffe
Thanks to a last-lap pass of Canada’s James Hinchcliffe, Graham Rahal held on to win Saturday night in the closest finish ever for an IndyCar race at the high-banked, 11/2-mile Texas Motor Speedway oval. The only time Rahal led the race — completed after a 21/2-month wait — was when he sliced to the bottom of the track coming off of the backstretch. He won by eight-thousandths (0.008) of a second, crossing the line side by side with Hinchcliffe. “My night was great until about eight minutes to go,” Hinchcliffe said after what was still his best finish of the season.
