Getting Dirty in Whistler

Mudderella is Back in Town

- CAROLINE HELBIG

It’s time to get dirty in Whistler—Mudderella is back in town. On September 24, thousands of gals (and a few fellas) will channel their inner superhero to scale vertical walls, crawl through muddy pits, and leap off high platforms.

Mudderella is a world-class eightto eleven-kilometre obstacle course created by women for women. It is not a timed competitive event. Rather, the goal is to complete the muddy run and the twelve to fifteen obstacles working together in a team.

Sound tough? It is. But take it from a Mudderella veteran, it’s also a ton of fun. Last year, my teammates and I laughed ourselves through mud, sweat, and tears (just a few) on the beautiful slopes of Blackcomb. And that’s the whole idea behind Mudderella.

There’s something tremendously satisfying about dressing-up in silly team costumes (not mandatory but highly recommended), getting a great workout, commando crawling through mud, and sharing belly laughs with friends. Oh, and did I mention the beer garden at the end?

“We are incredibly excited to return to Whistler with Mudderella in 2016,” says Courtney Jordan, Event Director for Mudderella. “We look forward to delivering this experience to thousands of new and returning participants, as well as encouraging participants to work together for a truly challenging and fun event.”

There are brand-new obstacles to look forward to at Mudderella Whistler. Expect to get filthy with Triple Threat, an outrageously muddy trio of hills, tubes and pits. Stunt Double, a ten-foot leap off a platform, is guaranteed to challenge fear of heights, and the steeply sloped Charlie’s Angels wall will test strength and team strategy.

Mudderella is a great event on its own, but it’s even better as part of a Whistler weekend getaway. Imagine a delicious postevent dinner at Whistler Village or a soothing soak at a Whistler spa. Trust me, it’s awesome.

It’s not too late to register at www.mudderella.com. Fellas, you can participate in this cool event too, provided you are invited by a registered female participant. For more details and weekend getaway deals, visit www.whistler.com/ events/mudderella.
