2017 Chevy pickup twins getting some love from GM
GM is showing its Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins some love for 2017.
Gone is the old 3.6-litre V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, replaced with all new bits. The new 3.6-L V-6 engine features revised valve timing and a new direct-injection system, translating to 308 horsepower and 275 poundfeet of torque.
Performance gains admittedly aren’t much. If you’re counting, the new numbers point to an improvement of three horsepower and six pound-feet of torque. But GM says there’s more low-end torque and the new V-6 should feel more responsive, thanks in part to the addition of GM’s 8L45 eight-speed automatic transmission.
GM is taking its changes on the 2017 Canyon a few steps further. An All Terrain X trim is now available, adding Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires and all-weather floor mats, as well as hill-descent control and beefier suspension components, among other things.
Also new for 2017 is the Canyon Denali. Much like the rest of GMC’s Denali-badged trucks, this Canyon features trinkets such as chromedout exterior trim, 20-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded Bose sound system.
The rest of the Canyon lineup gets an updated seven-inch touch screen infotainment system, an optional heated steering wheel, GM’s shudder-worthy Teen Driver Mode nanny and, last but not least, two new colours.
Both the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon will be arriving at dealerships later this year.
