Nine houses were damaged from flooding early Thursday morning in North Vancouver after a water main burst.

The water main burst shortly after 2 a.m., at the intersection of Golf and Fairview Drive, in the Deep Cove area, according to assistant fire chief Jim Bonneville. Bonneville said damage to the homes is varied, and fire and city crews were working Thursday morning to help residents pump out the water from their basements. The District of North Vancouver is trying to determine a cause of the broken main.
