LIONS PLAYER TO WATCH

-

EMMANUEL ARCENEAUX

The Manny Show was boffo in the first half of last Friday’s game in Edmonton — six receptions, 140 yards and two touchdowns, 40 of those yards coming after the catch on a 68-yard score with quarterback Jonathon Jennings. Over the final 30 minutes, however, the well went dry. The Jennings-Arceneaux combo combined for just one catch for 24 yards, a major factor in the 27-23 defeat. “We just didn’t execute,” Arceneaux said this week. “We came up short. We need to execute for a full four quarters, not just two.” Still, Arceneaux is within 44 yards of reaching 1,000 for the third time in his six-year CFL career. Fifth in reception yards leaguewide, Arceneaux could be Adarius Bowman, the league leader, if the Lions were more reliant on one or two players as the Eskimos are. “We don’t highlight him enough,” says Wally Buono.
