Cardinals rebel against Big Mac
A group of Vatican cardinals say the Golden Arches have no place alongside the heart of the Roman Catholic church.
The red-hatted Princes of the Church say plans to open a McDonald’s in a piazza near the colonnades of St. Peter’s Square, which attracts thousands of tourists and pilgrims, are “perverse” and disrespect its architectural traditions.
The burger bar would reportedly bring in 30,000 euros ($43,000) a month for the Vatican coffers, but one cardinal said the price is too high. He has written a letter to Pope Francis urging him to halt the proposal.
