HOME EMBODIES THE OPULENT MILLIONAIRE LIFESTYLE

-

There are dream homes, and then there are homes that are even more magnificent. Love It or List It Vancouver co-host Todd Talbot has seen many of the former, but even he was in awe when he first entered the High Point Estates home that is one of seven grandprize options in the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation Millionaire Lottery.

“This home is above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen,” Talbot says of the 8,200-square-foot home on a picturesque half acre in South Langley. “It’s opulent, it’s grand, it’s unique. When you think about the millionaire lifestyle, you think about this kind of place.”

The jaw-droppingly gorgeous home features five bedrooms, including two master bedrooms with one on the spacious main floor that has a five-piece ensuite with a 12-foot marble and glass shower. The chef’s kitchen features a spice kitchen and refrigerated pantry. A backlit crystal and stone island overlooks the open-concept great room with 20-foot ceilings, stunning crystal ring chandeliers, quartz fireplace surround, built-in speakers, and folding door system that opens to a charming covered patio and professionally landscaped green space.

Stroll past the grand piano to make your way upstairs, where the master bedroom is a home sanctuary with its natural-gas double-sided fireplace and ensuite with radiant in-floor heating.

Living like a millionaire also means having your own personal gym and spa. The High Point Estates home has it all, from a workout area to a glass-walled steam sauna and steam shower to a fully equipped massage-table room.

Designer Debbie Heal, who crafted the home’s interior, describes the exceptional residence as European French manor-style with a contemporary flair.

“I wanted to keep the look elegant and casual,” says Heal, who furnished the home with La-Z-Boy furniture, accents and décor. “It’s stately, yet very comfortable. This is a beautiful and extremely livable home.”

It could also be someone’s dream come true through the Millionaire Lottery. Proceeds go toward the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, which supports Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. That support is vital to helping care for people throughout B.C. and Yukon who are seriously ill or injured. VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehab Centre are together the province’s largest, most specialized health referral centres for adults. In any given year, 600,000 people need lifesaving treatment. Proceeds from the lottery help purchase pieces of vital medical equipment and devices that need to be replaced regularly, such as ventilators, including those for babies.

“If you have a stroke, a burn, a really serious accident, or complex cancer, you’re coming to one of our centres,” says Angela Chapman, senior vice-president of philanthropy. “That’s because of the specialized care they offer. This is where the specialists are. You can have the very best people, but they can’t do their jobs without the very best tools. This lottery helps put into doctors’ and nurses’ hands the right tools.”

All proceeds from the VGH Millionaire Lottery stay right here in B.C.

Tickets are one for $100, two for $175, three for $250, or eight for $500.

There’s also the 50/50 Plus draw, where the 50/50 jackpot reaches up to $2.2 million, and the winner takes half. Prices are two for $15, six for $30, and 16 for $60.

New this year is Daily Cash Plus: from Feb. 6 to March 7, 2017, there will be daily winners of $5,000 each, and a $50,000 windfall on March 8.

Tickets can be purchased at London Drugs, by calling 604-6025848 or toll-free 1-888-445-5825, or by visiting MillionaireLottery.com.
