A body found in a van on the side of King George Boulevard was not a victim of foul play, said police.

Surrey RCMP launched an investigation Wednesday morning after a passerby noticed an unresponsive person in a black Dodge Grand Caravan minivan on the north side of the 12800-block King George Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased man inside the vehicle.

It was initially unclear whether foul play was a factor as the cause of death was not clear based on initial appearances.

On Wednesday afternoon, police ruled out foul play. The man’s identity was not released.

The case has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service, which will investigate the cause of the death.

The investigation shut down King George Boulevard between 128th and 132nd streets in both directions for several hours.
