Arrest made in big-rig shootings

-

Mounties have a suspect behind bars after an eight-hour, 630-km shooting rampage targeted large transport trucks along Highway 97.

Police said they’ve received numerous calls from truck drivers reporting that windows and radiators were shot out as they drove along the highway in the northern Interior. None of the drivers reported being hurt.

Police said late Saturday that a vehicle that had been subject of a province-wide manhunt had been found in Chilliwack thanks to a tip. An individual was arrested. Truckers reported coming under fire near Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Clucuz Lake, Prince George, Quesnel and 100 Mile House. Drivers told police their trucks were in motion when the shots rang out.

Police say they were searching for a dirty, blue 2009 Dodge Caliber vehicle, a four-door car with the Ontario licence plate CAVM918.
