Red Truck Beer has branded itself to live music better than any other B.C.-based craft brewery. The way that “the freshest beer on four wheels” has done it is pretty crafty too. Not only does it host weekly Friday and Saturday Truck Stop Sessions (7-9 p.m.) on-site at the Truck Stop Diner, but every summer there is the Truck Stop Concert Series.

This collection of outdoor summer concerts has grown every year. The lineup consistently features top-tier acts as well as a wide variety of popular locals. With two stages presenting bands, plenty of Red Truck’s award-winning beer pouring and food, these shows have become extremely popular since being introduced three years ago. Mention Red Truck and the concert series is likely to be the next thing to come up.

“The Truck Stop Concert Series is the highlight of our summer,” said Red Truck Beer general manager Jim Dodds. “What could be better than throwing parties for thousands of thirsty music fans at our East Vancouver home?”

Perhaps being one of the unsigned local acts who submitted their demos for a chance to perform in front of the 1,500 capacity crowd? The winners of the Artist Submission Contest are to be announced later, as are a few additional headliners later on in April.

But what is known of the talent roster so far is certain to have music fans smiling. Any one of the headliners for the three shows would cost more to see normally than the price of a single series ticket. And that ticket gets you a total of six acts, including a wide variety of musical styles.

It’s a budget day of fun in the sun (hopefully) and the industrial setting in the Yeast Van brewing hub adds something to the whole experience. The 2017 lineup is listed above. It’s very exciting to see soul man Lee Fields and the Expressions are appearing.
