Ravndahl tapped for MAC campaign

Vancouver-based beauty guru gets Creme Sheen lipstick released by cosmetics company

Vancouver-based beauty guru Samantha Ravndahl is among 10 internatio­nal talents to partner with MAC cosmetics on a limited-edition release.

Ravndahl, who boasts more than 2.4 million followers on Instagram, partnered with the makeup megabrand to create a custom Creme Sheen lipstick shade.

The lipstick is a “light shell pink” hue that our tests show gives lips a soft kiss of colour that’s perfect for the spring and summer.

Ravndahl is joined by fellow social-media influencer­s and makeup artists Laura Lee, Gabriel Zamora, Fleur De Force, Alessandra Steinherr, Vic Ceridono, Fouz Al Fahad, Marie Lopez, Caroline Daur and Nikkia Joy in the release of custom creations.

The lipsticks, which retail for $21 each, are available in Mac stores and online at Maccosmeti­cs.ca.

Dress for Success Vancouver event returns

Dress For Success Vancouver plans to open doors May 10 with the return of its annual fundraisin­g event.

IMPACT 360 is back for its 18th year raising funds for DFSV’s Woman and Profession­al Women’s Group programs.

“Our theme this year is opening doors, celebratin­g the women and men who support us locally, allowing us to open doors for our clients,” Jennifer Halinda, executive director of Dress for Success Vancouver, said in a news release.

“We hope to raise some valuable funds and are so grateful to our loyal community who support this event every year.”

This year’s event will include a fashion show, cocktails and live music, as well as a live auction hosted by Postmedia columnist Fred Lee.

Dress for Success Vancouver is a charitable organizati­on that works to empower women into the workforce by assisting with everything from career developmen­t coaching to acquiring business attire.

Rapper returns as Guess designer

Rakim Mayers, otherwise known as A$AP Rocky, is back for another collection with Guess.

The rapper previously collaborat­ed with the American brand for a capsule collection that included men’s and women’s styles including cropped sweatshirt­s, logo T-shirts, overalls and more.

The latest partnershi­p sees Mayers delve into the Guess archives to create a collection of pastel pieces. Think retro bathing suits, more vintage logos and a whole lot of stripes.

Ann Taylor launches online interview series

American womenswear brand Ann Taylor has joined forces with author and Design*Sponge creator Grace Bonney to create a monthly online interview series featuring inspiring women.

Dubbed the Inspired By campaign, the initiative will showcase the day in the life of one new subject each month throughout 2017.

“We have been such fans of Grace and Design*Sponge since its very beginning,” Holly Tedesco, vice-president of marketing at Ann Taylor, said in a news release.

“And we were even more inspired by In the Company of Women and the way that Grace celebrates real women who are pursuing their passions — just as our millions of clients do every day. Grace embodies our belief that behind every great woman is another and another.”

Straps and stripes at Hudson’s Bay

Because we could all use more stripes in our wardrobes this spring and summer, Hudson’s Bay has partnered with footwear brand Teva for a limited-edition sandal collection.

The two designs, which are available for men and women, see the company’s recognizab­le stripes featured on the straps of the sandal outfit’s equally recognizab­le footwear.

“Hudson’s Bay is excited to partner with Teva for this fun collaborat­ion as we both share an adventurou­s spirit,” Hilary Kelley, vice-president of design for HBC Collection­s, said in a news release.

“Whether you’re on a great escape in the wilderness or trekking through the city, these sandals are the perfect pair of shoes to get outside and explore.”
