The French accessories brand, which is owned by Samsonite International S.A., recently announced the planned opening of its first North American boutique at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Vancouver.

“As a growing international city, we have had our sights set on Vancouver to host the newest Lipault location,” Erin Reynolds, national marketing and communications specialist at Samsonite Canada Inc., said in a news release “Lipault caters to fashion-forward, active men and women looking for handbags and luggage that are eye-catching and elegant while easy to handle for their everyday, busy lives. We are thrilled to bring our brand to Vancouverites who can now find their perfect Lipault bag in town, and enjoy its sophisticated style at an affordable price.”

Roots gets ‘NICE’

Roots is celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary with a campaign that highlights how nice we all are.

“‘NICE’ acknowledges 150 years of extraordinary Canadian historical events that challenged the status quo and brought change nationally and globally. We continue to redefine the word ‘NICE’ as an active verb,” actress Kim Cattrall narrates in a new online video supporting the campaign.

The campaign aims to celebrate “key moments and people” that have helped keep our nation in the good books. In addition to an online and in-store presence, the company has also released a nice button ($3 for two), the profits from which will be donated to WE’s Indigenous Youth Empowerment Programming.

Roots has always been inspired by Canada,” James Connell, vice-president of ecommerce and marketing at Roots Canada, said in a release. “What better way to celebrate 150 years of this wonderful country than to celebrate its people? We hope Canadians will share their inspirational stories, wear and share a nice™ button to raise funds for a great cause, enjoy great Canadian art that is part of our shared cultural heritage and be motivated to be nice to create an even-nicer Canada for the next 150 years and beyond.”

The company is also looking to find Canada’s nicest person with a social-media contest. Until May 28 Canadian residents can nominate their favourite Canadian do-gooder via social media, with the hashtags #BeNice and #RootsIsCanada. The top-10 finalists will be posted from June 5-18, when public voting will be open in order to pick the winner. The person named Canada’s nicest person will get $10,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
