ANNUAL SWAP MEET AT TRADEX TODAY AND TOMORROW
As you are reading this I am madly getting ready for the Coastal Automotive Swap Meet at Tradex today and tomorrow.
This annual swap meet is a great place to go to meet fellow carnuts, some of whom are not going to car shows right now because they are building new rides. Which means they’ll be at the swap meet in search of parts to complete their project cars.
I like to wander around and shoot arty photos of all the cool parts on display. I also like asking the owners about where they got the weird parts that they no longer want. Sometimes the stories are hilarious — often exaggerated — but who does not love a tall tail about a weird tail light?
Other things to do this weekend include drag racing at Mission and Sechelt, ‘roundy round’ racing at Agassiz and Saratoga, and no less than eight cars shows.
Last weekend’s glorious weather provided the perfect conditions for the annual All-British Field Meet at VanDusen Botanical Garden.
I followed our family’s Healey from my brother Jeff ’s house to the event, and was pleased to see no sign of smoke from the exhaust. Jeff and my nephew Andy changed the head gasket and the valve seals, and the car is running great and all set for a fun summer of motoring.
I did notice a few kids driving cars into the show, so in that spirit take a kid or two to a car event this weekend.
