Man, 19, held in double homicide

A 19-year-old has been arrested and is in custody after a double homicide discovered Saturday morning near Powell River.

Powell River RCMP said they were called about 5:15 a.m. to a home in the 1500 block of Scotch Place in Lund, a village 22 km north of Powell River, where they were told someone had been shot.

“Police located two individuals who were deceased, and a male suffering from non-life-threatening injuries,” said Cpl. Janelle Shoihet. “The injured male was transported to local area hospital, was treated and has since been released.”

Shoihet said in a statement that a 19-year-old man had been arrested and remained in custody as of Saturday afternoon.
