NEW UNIT SERVES YOUNG PEOPLE IN MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
Opened on May 29 at Surrey Memorial Hospital, the Cloverdale Paint Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit (CAPSU) provides one- to seven-day emergency inpatient care for young people in mental health crisis from communities across Fraser Health.
Serving patients aged six to 17 and their families, this state-ofthe-art unit was made possible by funding from Surrey Hospital & Outpatient Centre Foundation, Fraser Health and the provincial government.
Special features funded by donors include: a multi-sensory Snoezelen™ Room; equipment, home-like furnishings for the patient rooms and gathering spaces, plus decor and wall treatments designed to foster tranquility.
