The B.C.-based brand creates body care products that are formulated with a unique ingredient: crushed crystals.
Andrea Barone Sazwan, the founder of the line, talks crystals, creating healthy, healing body products and her favourite Crystal Hills product.
Q When and why did you start Crystal Hills?
A I launched Crystal Hills last June. I started my company as I really believe that what we apply on our body is just as important as the food we eat in restoring and maintaining the body’s harmony and vitality. With this in mind, I wanted to create holistic products that could offer specific benefits for the mind, body and spirit by synergistically blending exquisite flowers, beneficial herbs and highenergy crystals.
Is there a story behind the name?
Yes there is, as whole or groundup crystals are an ingredient in all of our body care products due to their good energy and unique properties. Crystal Hills is also located in the rolling hills of the beautiful Okanagan Valley.
For those who aren’t familiar, what do you sell?
At the present time, we offer crystal-infused body serums, bath salts and sugar scrubs, as well as crystal jewelry and crystal collections.
What exactly are “synergistically blended” products?
Synergistically blended relates to the interaction of two or more substances — ingredients — that produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their individual effects. For instance, the essential oil of lavender is known for having soothing properties, as does camomile, violet leaf and even an amethyst crystal. However, when combined, the attributes of the botanicals, plus the energetic properties of the crystal, work together to offer an exceptional force to help promote calmness, inner peace and a relaxed state of mind.
What makes Crystal Hills different from other brands?
Crystal Hills is pretty different from other brands as our products are made by incorporating the active components of botanicals, as well as the healing energetic traits of crystals. The philosophy at Crystal Hills Organics is to use the healing power of nature to create unique formulations that nourish and soothe the skin. Our crystal- and botanical-infused products offer specific benefits for the body and skin due to the high concentrations of naturally active ingredients, such as organic herbs, plant oils and butters.
What’s new for spring/summer 2017?
We will soon be launching our crystal-infused massage oils and crystal-infused soaps that complement our existing line.
Do you have a favourite product?
For me it would be our Crystal Love Body Serum. It was a special creation that was formulated with the sole purpose of love in mind: feeling love, finding love, elevating love and even seeing the love around us. This sensual scent was created with pure essential oils, that are conducive to romance, love and passion. The Crystal Love Body Serum unites organic rosehip oil, organic apricot oil and mallow extract to provide exceptional soothing and nourishing properties, which makes the skin silky smooth.
What is the price of the products in the line?
Our body serums are offered at $70, bath salts are $54, sugar scrubs are $68 and the crystals/crystal jewelry range from $36 up to $170.

Our herbal salves. For over a year, we handed out samples for people to try out, and everyone has been asking when they are coming out as they worked so well.
