AUSTIN GETTING SUED
When it rains, it pours. And, right now, they’re getting drenched in Hamilton.
Still reeling from the aborted Art Briles hiring attempt from earlier in the week comes word that Kent Austin, the Ticats’ vicepresident of football operations, is being sued by his former employers at Cornell.
According to the lawsuit — which is seeking more than $100,000 — Austin initiated the contract clause requiring him to pay the university $100,000 for terminating the deal two years early.
Initially, Austin signed a five-year deal in 2010 for a reported $1.4 million. The Ticats lured Austin away following the 2013 season with two years still remaining on that contract.
Austin relieved himself of the headcoaching duties in Hamilton, handing the reins over to June Jones only last week.
