Tyler to appear at David Foster benefit
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who has been dogged by health rumours after cancelling a series of concerts last week, will return to the stage on Oct. 21 for David Foster Foundation 30th Anniversary Miracle Gala and Concert at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.
In a statement on the band’s website, Tyler, 69, told fans he cut Aerosmith’s current world tour short — cancelling four shows in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico — because he had to have a medical procedure that only his doctor in the United States could perform.
However, Tyler disputed rumours that he was in grave health. “I certainly did not have a heart attack or seizure,” he said.
Other artists appearing with Tyler at the Foster Foundation Gala include Jay Leno, Robin Thicke, The Tenors, Matteo Bocelli, Laura Bretan, and, the host himself, Canadian record producer David Foster. More artists are expected to be announced in next two weeks.
Tickets for the gala concert range from $49 to $119, plus fees.
Over the last 30 years, the David Foster Foundation says it has spent millions to cover non-medical expenses for more than 1,000 Canadian families with children undergoing life-saving organ transplants.
The foundation also promotes organ donor registration.
Foster, a 16-time Grammy Award winner from Victoria, founded his eponymous foundation in 1986.
