Norwegian Cruise Line is sending one of its most popular cruise ships to a brand-new home port at the end of next year, in a move that will offer guests even more choices in the Caribbean.

The 4,000-guest Norwegian Breakaway, which has formerly called New York City home during the winter months, will reposition to New Orleans for her winter 2018/19 Caribbean season. She’ll be the largest ship to ever home port in the Big Easy, and her arrival will make it easier for guests on the west coast and throughout the central United States and Canada to experience this trendsetting ship.

“Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest and newest ship from Norwegian to sail from New Orleans, and we are thrilled to bring our signature Breakaway-class ship to this important home port,” said Andy Stuart, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We want to provide more opportunities for our guests across the country to explore beautiful destinations and enjoy all of the spectacular features of our newest ships, along with the freedom and flexibility that only a Norwegian cruise can offer.”

Even though she carries 4,000 people, Norwegian Breakaway carries them well. She’s one of the best-designed big ships I’ve sailed aboard, and offers something for cruisers of all ages. She’s also one of the classiest ships in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, with beautiful décor and multiple dining options. She also introduced The Waterfront; a reimagining of the traditional outdoor promenade deck that incorporates outdoor seating at some of Norwegian Breakaway’s most popular bars, lounges and dining venues. Why miss that great sunset at sea? Take your pre-dinner drink outdoors, or enjoy your entire meal outside.

Norwegian will open bookings for Norwegian Breakaway’s maiden Caribbean season on October 24, and interest will be high. The ship will sail a variety of Caribbean itineraries after she arrives in New Orleans on November 11, 2018, ports of call including Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras; and Harvest Caye, Belize.

The latter offers the possibility to explore the beautiful scenery and rich culture of Belize, while at the same time offering guests a swim up pool bar, luxury beach villas, private pool cabanas, and water sports activities.

Their debut might be over a year away, but these sailings will book up fast.
