Late-breaking news from walk-throughs
DECKER ACTIVATED:
The Detroit Lions on Saturday activated two offensive tackles — Taylor
Decker from the reserve/ physically-unable-toperform list, and Corey
Robinson from IR/ designated-to-return. Decker is big news because he’s arguably the best offensive linemen the Lions have, the ostensible starting left tackle who has been out since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in June.
GIANT DISAPPOINTMENT:
The New York Giants don’t rank higher than 20th in any of the six bellwether yardage barometers. They sit 28th in total offence, 27th in rush offence, 20th in pass offence, 30th in total defence, 28th in rush defence and 29th in pass defence. The Giants have earned their 1-7 record.
TURNOVERS MATTER:
Keep believing it: Winning the turnover battle is paramount. Of the 15 teams with a negative turnover differential through Week 9, only two has a winning record: Pittsburgh (6-2, minus-1) and Carolina (6-3, minus-8). And only four of 17 teams with a positive turnover differential have a losing record.
RAMS, THEN VS. NOW:
The Los Angeles Rams a year ago this week had picked up the fewest first downs in the NFL: 141. Fast-forward to today and the Rams lead the NFL in third-down percentage, having converted nearly half: 54-of-110 (49.1%).
