Who’ll start this week at QB for Bills?

- — John Kryk

We still don’t know who’ll quarterback the Buffalo Bills this week, Mr. Reckless or Mr. Rockless. Head coach Sean

McDermott said he was still evaluating on Monday afternoon. Mr. Reckless (aka overly bold rookie passer Nathan

Peterman) threw five interceptions in the first half of his first NFL start Sunday, in a 54-24 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. Mr. Rockless (aka overly careful seventh-year passer

Tyrod Taylor) never throws a football anywhere near a receiver who’s close to a defender, which is when expert NFL passes often must be delivered. That largely explains why Taylor is ineffective, why he was benched in the first place a week ago, and why he throws so few interceptions.

“Still evaluating right now,” McDermott told a Monday news conference of The Decision. “I understand where you’re coming from on that. Still evaluating and (we’ll) take it one day at a time right now.”

McDermott did not rule out Peterman to start again this Sunday, at Kansas City.

“I remain confident in Nathan. There are some plays yesterday I know he wants back. There were also some plays when you look at it, you say, ‘That was pretty darn good.’ Hard to see, on the surface … Hard to see that with the result being what it was. When you take it one play at a time and you really look at it, you can say, ‘Hey, we’re moving the ball.’”

TERRY GLENN DIES

Former long-time NFL wide receiver Terry Glenn died in a car crash in Irving, Texas. He was 43. Glenn played 12 seasons starting in 1995 with the New England Patriots. He later played for Green Bay and Dallas. Glenn caught the first TD pass of Tom Brady’s career in 2001. “Terry was one of the most gifted receivers we have ever had,” Pats owner

Robert Kraft said in a statement. “For so many Patriots fans, his rookie season will be remembered as one of the most impactful in franchise history.”

CONCUSSED QBS

Miami confirmed QB Jay Cutler is in the concussion protocol. His availability for Sunday’s game at New England is uncertain. Indianapolis announced QB Jacoby

Brissett remains in the concussion protocol eight days after suffering his head injury, and his status for Sunday’s game against Tennessee remains uncertain.

STEELER SUSPENDED

The NFL suspended Pittsburgh’s starting right offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert for four games without pay for a performing-enhancing-substance violation.

PACKER POT PINCH

Green Bay RB Aaron Jones faces numerous charges after he was arrested seven weeks ago following a traffic stop. Jones allegedly was speeding and admitted to having smoked marijuana.
