Egypt bans SNL Arabia

Egypt has banned the Arabic version of Saturday Night Live for allegedly using “sexual expressions,” an official said Tuesday.

SNL Arabia follows the format of its U.S. namesake, with celebrity guests, comedy sketches, music and news parody. It has stayed away from politics.

The Supreme Media Regulatory Council says it has consistently used inappropriate “sexual phrases and insinuations that should not be presented to viewers.”
