Russian Games?

-

Russia is still furious about being forced to compete under a neutral flag because of the doping ban, so government officials came up with a solution: Hold their own Winter Games after Pyeongchang ends.

According to the country’s state news service, 70 athletes will take part in competitions across Russia and there will be prizes. The events will include skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, short track and speed skating because those were the sports where the doping ban impacted Russians the most.

“The Olympic Games are underway, and we are cheering for our athletes who are being in rather complicated conditions there. However, athletes who were not admitted to the Olympics on a spurious pretext, because of a vociferous political campaign unleashed against our country, suffered even more,” Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said to TASS, the state news agency.
