Piano teacher faces sex assault charges
A 67-year-old Coquitlam piano teacher has been charged with sexual assault against three former students.
Coquitlam RCMP say the allegations involve three students and occurred between 1998 and 2015. The victims’ ages were not released but RCMP Const. Michael McLaughlin says they were teens and preteens.
Dmytro Kubyshkin, also known as Dmitri Kubyshkin, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with three counts of sexual assault. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
Kubyshkin, who operates DM Piano School, is believed to have been teaching in private homes for more than 20 years. In an effort to reach other potential victims, Coquitlam RCMP has released a photo and physical description of Kubyshkin.
“We would only release a photo in exceptional circumstances, but we have a fairly strong suspicion that there are other victims who have not spoken to police,” McLaughlin said.
“With a such broad date range, we need to make sure there are no other victims.”
Kubyshkin is described as a white man with blond/white hair, blue eyes and a moustache. He is 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and speaks with a Russian accent.
Anyone with information on Kubyshkin can contact the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Investigative Support Team (file #2018-1860).
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
