Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a Surrey man after a vicious assault on a helpless autistic man in Mississauga, Ont.

Ronjot Singh Dhami, 25, of Surrey is believed to be on the lam with two unidentified individuals, who wore hoodies over their heads during the incident.

And thanks to tips from law enforcement and the public on the West Coast, investigators are confident they will soon identify the two other suspects.

The March 13 assault involving three suspects took place around 10:45 p.m. at a Mississauga mall’s bus station and was caught on surveillance footage.

The clip shows a man sitting at the bottom of a set of stairs putting on in-line skates. When he realizes three men are descending the stairs, he quickly pulls his shoes out of their way.

Suddenly, the trio turns to surround the seated man. One grabs the victim by the collar and begins to punch, while the other two begin to stomp and kick from behind and in front of the victim.

Almost as quickly as the attack began, the attackers then turn and walk away slowly as the victim doubles over with his hands to his bloodied head. The victim, a 29-year-old man with autism, is “still very shaken up” and “going through a lot,” said Peel Regional Police Insp. Norm English.

“The circulation of this investigation to B.C. proved to be very beneficial and Peel Regional Police have confirmed the identity of the first suspect,” English told Postmedia News.

Dhami is well-known to police in B.C., but his whereabouts remain a mystery.

“Dhami may still be in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and we encourage him to call a lawyer and surrender to police,” English said. “The other two males involved in this incident are also being urged to surrender.”

“They should be aware that you’re next. We will identify you and we are coming for you.”

As of Tuesday morning, nearly 400,000 people have viewed the footage, which was uploaded by Peel police last week in an attempt to identify the suspects.

Police across the country are on the lookout for the trio.

“Anyone who sees any of them should not approach them and call police immediately," English said.

Peel police wondered why there weren’t more local tips until the B.C. connection was made.

“We want to thank the police and people of British Columbia,” said English.

The other suspects are believed to be South Asian: one with a light complexion who is 5-foot-10 with a thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a black jacket with a grey horizontal stripe across the chest and a grey vertical stripe along the hood, black track pants and black shoes.

The other has a medium complexion, is 5-foot-10 with a medium build and unshaven. He was wearing a black hoodie with a Nike logo on the front and white Nike lettering along the sleeves, black track pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Peel police at 905-453-3311, ext. 1233, their local police department or Crime Stoppers.
