You can never have too much of a good thing.

That’s the thinking at Viking Cruises, which has just released its 2019 combination river and ocean cruises that offer up one of Viking’s award-winning river voyages through Europe, paired with a cruise on one of the line’s trendsetting new oceangoing vessels.

Viking’s first two combination ocean and river voyages debut this June, but they’ve been sold out for some time now. Fans of Viking (and those who just want to see and do as much as possible on their European vacation) will want to snap these new 2019 itineraries up quickly.

First up is the 22-day Grand European & Viking Fjords voyage from Budapest to Bergen, Norway. Departing May 26 or June 2, 2019, this voyage whisks guests to six countries with 19 different ports of call. Guests sail first aboard one of Viking’s Longship river cruise vessels on the Danube between Budapest and Amsterdam before embarking one of the company’s stellar 930-guest cruise ships for a voyage north to the Viking homeland of Norway.

Guests disembark in picturesque Bergen, famous for its Hanseatic, UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen, with its colourful wooden row houses.

Viking notes that this itinerary is available in the reverse direction, from Norway to Hungary.

The other itinerary that Viking is offering travels up the Rhine River from Basel, Switzerland to Bergen. This one leaves on June 2, 2019 and is a little shorter at just 15 days in length.

Guests start first with a Viking Longship river cruise up the Rhine, a scenic waterway dotted with castles, charming towns, and major cities like Strasbourg, France and Cologne, Germany.

The river cruise ends in Amsterdam where guests embark their Viking Ocean ship for the voyage north to Skagen, Denmark and Norway’s magical fjords.

This one is also available in the reverse direction, from Bergen to Basel.

“Our guests are experienced travellers who appreciate immersive cultural experiences, while also exploring the world in comfort,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking.

“Only Viking can provide a destination-focused voyage that marries the river and sea into a single, unified journey. With one flight, our guests can experience both of our award-winning cruise products, making it even easier for them to explore the world.”
