TOUGH NIGHT FOR WIZARDS

- — Frank Zicarelli

Two first-quarter fouls to bigs Marcin Gortat and Ian Mahinmi, John Wall getting his hand stepped on, Markieff Morris favouring his left ankle, if anything could go wrong for Washington it did in Game 1.

There are issues the Wizards must address before Game 2 tips off on Tuesday, areas the Raptors will need to iron out.

Morris, despite his game-high, in this case worst, minus-12 rating, scored 22 points, a playoff-career high, hauled down a team-high 11 rebounds, dished off six assists, made all three free throws he attempted and had zero turnovers in posting a double-double, his playoff-career fourth.

Wall was Washington’s lone starter to have a plus rating, but he made only one shot in the fourth quarter.

“Nah, it’s cool,’’ Wall said of his hand. “I just shot a layup and then someone stepped on it. I’ve been in that situation before when I had my wrist stepped on and I broke it before, so I was hoping I didn’t do the same thing that I did in the past. But I’ll be all right.”

Wall’s double-double (23 points, 15 assists) was his playoff-career 15th.
