Hit-and-run victim’s child needs your help
Donations are being raised for the young daughter of a woman killed Thursday in a hit and run in Maple Ridge, as Mounties say they have found the vehicle.
RCMP say shortly before 10 p.m., a white 2017 Honda Civic was travelling west in the 21800-block Lougheed Highway when it struck and killed Tassis Vix, the mother of a 10-year-old girl. Vix was a veterinary assistant at Haney Animal Hospital in Maple Ridge.
The driver sped off. Police are looking for anyone who saw such a Civic with front-end damage driving in the area between 9:45 and 10:10 p.m.
Anyone with information is asked to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-2228477, or leave a tip online at solvecrime.ca.
Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Brenda Gresiuk says investigators are not disclosing information about where the car was found or whether they have located the driver.
“This is a very serious incident, and investigators want to make sure they have the best possible evidence,” she said.
Gresiuk confirmed Tuesday
that RCMP had not made an arrest.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Vix’s daughter Nevaeh had raised just over $10,000 by Tuesday afternoon.
Vix’s aunt Gigi Bengert, who started the donation campaign, said Nevaeh will have to go to a new city and school, all “without the lifelong support of her loving mother.”
