- SCOTT BROWN

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the man and woman killed early Monday morning in Richmond.

Richmond RCMP, responding to a report of gunshots, discovered the bodies of 36-year-old Keri Smith and 37-year-old Terrence Peter Smith inside a home in the 6600-block of Eckersley Road about 2:30 a.m. IHIT says the couple had recently moved to Richmond from Surrey. They also have ties to Vernon.

Both victims were known to police and investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

“It remains early in the investigation and police are working to determine motive,” Cpl. Frank Jang said in a release.

Jang didn’t provide details of how the couple is known to police and whether officers had previously been called to the house.

Nor could he comment on whether there was evidence of a forced entry.

Anyone with information can contact IHIT, either by phone at 1-877-551-4448 or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc. gc.ca, or phone Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

“Anyone who was in the area of the 6600-block of Eckersley Road during the overnight period of April 30 is asked to contact IHIT,” says Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT.
