Manolo Escobar restaurant?

Colombians living in Vancouver — unhappy that a new restaurant is using the name Escobar because it brings up memories of notorious drug-dealer Pablo Escobar — should give Escobar a first name.

My suggestion is Manolo Escobar — the late Spanish singer whose hits included El Porompompero and Y Viva España.

He proved that ordinary people go for the beat and don’t need complicated lyrics. Escobar had to sing El Porompompero 20 times for an encore.

He would be delighted if Colombians named their new restaurant after him.
