Piano teacher faces more charges involving students
B.C. Crown prosecutors have laid seven more charges against a Coquitlam piano teacher accused of sexually assaulting his students.
Dmytro Kubyshkin, also known as Dmitri Kubyshkin, was first charged in February with three counts of sexual assault against three former students.
The latest charges, which include four additional counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference, were filed on May 18.
Coquitlam RCMP say the 10 charges relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between 1998 and 2015.
Kubyshkin, who operates a company called DM Piano School, had been teaching piano in private homes for more than 20 years.
According to his company website, which has since been taken down, Kubyshkin taught for decades in his native Ukraine before moving to B.C. in 1997.
Kubyshkin was released on a number of conditions including that he not be alone with anyone under 16 years old and he not teach piano to anyone under 18.
The RCMP is appealing to other potential victims to come forward.
Anyone with information on Kubyshkin can contact the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Investigative Support Team (file #2018-1860).
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
