Woman gets life sentence for ‘pure evil’ acid attack

A 48-year-old woman was jailed for life in London on Wednesday after she poured sulphuric acid over for former lover after he said he was leaving her for another woman.

Berlinah Wallace had committed an act of “pure evil” said the judge in sentencing her.

Wallace threw the liquid over Mark van Dongen, 29, as he slept in bed at her flat and laughed as she told him: “If I can’t have you, no one else can.”

Van Dongen was in a coma for four months, suffered extensive burns to his body, was blind in one eye, paralyzed from the neck down and had to have his lower left leg amputated.

He later died by euthanasia at a hospital in Belgium.
