Canada bounced from 3x3 World Cup

BOCAUE, Philippines — Canada was ousted from the FIBA 3x3 basketball World Cup with a heartbreaking 18-16 loss to the Netherlands in Tuesday’s quarter-finals.

Michael Linklater, Steve Sir, Jermaine Bucknor and Michael Lieffers went into medal play undefeated, finishing atop their group at 4-0. The loss left the Canadians sixth in their first FIBA 3x3 World Cup appearance.

Basketball’s 3x3 version will make its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020.
