For Abir Matta, the Boom Floss has been a way to calm himself down when frustrated.

So when the seven-year-old from Vancouver got a chance to face one of his favourite stars at a web conference recently, he asked Bollywood actor Salman Khan, “Can you do the Boom Floss?”

“I wanted to see how he does it because he’s my favourite,” said Matta, who has been dancing since age four.

“It helps me think sometimes. When I’m frustrated, I do the Boom Floss and it helps me calm down,” Matta said. “I thought, when Salman Khan is frustrated, he can do it.”

Apart from Khan, actresses Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha and Daisy Shah were also at the web conference with Vancouver media, to promote their upcoming Da-bangg The Tour — Reloaded concert here on Canada Day.

When Matta asked Khan to do the Boom Floss, the actor sportingly got off his chair and tried to copy the youngster’s moves. The attempts grew hilarious as Khan tried and failed to keep up with Matta and asked him to slow down.

“Hey dude, don’t embarrass me like that,” Khan told Matta. “I’m coming to perform in your city.”

“I feel he was trying his

best,” Matta told Postmedia. “He was focusing and looking closely, how I was doing it. Then he got messed up a little and then he got it.”

Actress Sonakshi Sinha also gave the Boom Floss a shot and followed Matta’s instructions. “Hey, I got it,” exclaimed the actress after trying the steps, adding that Khan would do the Boom Floss on stage.

“I was happy she did it perfectly,” Matta said of Sinha’s attempt.

“Daisy Shah told Salman Khan it was the easiest dance step,” Matta said.

Matta has been on a roller-coaster of excitement since the web conference video went viral in India. “I am happy and excited,” he said. When asked about becoming famous, he said, “I don’t know about that.”

“I’ve been receiving calls from friends and family in India saying the video is playing on the news and music channels,” said Matta’s mom Mona. “I’m very excited for Abir … I’m also very proud that he was so confident in front of the celebs, teaching his dance steps to Salman.”

This is Khan’s first tour in North America in 12 years, according to a news release. The performance in Vancouver is part of nine concerts in North America, just days after the release of his latest film Race 3.

“I felt it was high time to come and connect with my fans and the people who have shown love for the last 25 years,” Khan said in the statement. “It was time to come and meet them and connect with them and perform for them live."

Mona and husband Gagan Matta of Verka Foods are among the sponsors of the show in Vancouver. Matta was at the conference with his father, Gagan.

Matta is looking forward to attending the show. His mom says they have already purchased their meet-and-greet package to ensure Abir gets to meet Salman Khan in person.

“I’m going to ask him to show the step when I meet him,” said Matta. I’m going to check if he remembers it, because he might forget. I don’t want him to get embarrassed in front of so many people.”
