Dewan’s Danskin line focuses on comfortable, chic clothing
Jenna Dewan has designed a clothing collection for dance brand Danskin.
The actress and dancer has acted as the face of the American dancewear manufacturer since 2016, showing off her athleticism in a number of campaigns.
Now, Dewan is putting her flair for fashion and knowledge of activewear to the test for the company, creating the 16-piece Jenna Dewan x Dan- skin line.
“I designed this line for active women who want to look comfortable and chic when they work out and go to dance class, but also transition to night with boots and a jacket and make it an outfit that can go to dinner,” she said. “I wanted to do a line that was comfortable and chic and also wearable.”
Dewan’s collection includes a number of key pieces for dancers, such as leotards and leggings, as well as gym-friendly items like crop tops and sweatshirts.
For the range, which marks the first time Danskin bosses have collaborated with a celebrity, she chose a mostly neutral colour palette featuring pops of maroon, rose gold and orange.
“It was such a fun process, picking the fabrics, the designs, the textures, the way it fits on the body. I love doing it,” the 37-year-old said. “It was a real collaboration. We started with an idea. I explained what I was hoping to see in the line. Danskin was very supportive, and immediately liked the vision.”
The World of Dance host went on to share that she has had a long association with Danskin and her first leotard was made by the brand. However, her leotard design for the collection is a “little different” and has a low back and interesting cut-out detail.
“All the leotards are ready to dance in, they’re very appropriate for a dance class. It just has a little bit of an edge and a little sexy flair to it that will make it fresh and interesting,” shesaid.
The Jenna Dewan x Danskin line will be sold in stores and online from October.
