Three dead in collision

Three people are dead after a twovehicle collision, one of them a semitraile­r, near Cache Creek on Thursday.

The accident happened at 11:05 a.m. at the intersecti­on of Highways 97 and 99.

RCMP say the semi-trailer was travelling south on Highway 97 when it collided with a northbound car that was trying a left turn onto Highway 99.

All three occupants of the car were killed. No names have been released.

Police say the area around the intersecti­on will remain closed for an undetermin­ed period of time as police crash experts and the B.C. Coroners Service investigat­e.

Motorists are advised to monitor drivebc.ca for updates.

SURREY Motorcycli­st dies

One man is dead after a motorcycle crashed into an SUV in Surrey on Wednesday night.

Shortly before 9 p.m. a man on a motorcycle travelling north on 181 A Street collided with a small SUV that was stopped waiting on 181 A Street to turn east onto 61 B Avenue, according to RCMP.

The driver of the motorcycle died. Surrey RCMP continue to investigat­e the cause of the crash.

The driver of the small SUV is cooperatin­g with the investigat­ion.

Police believe speed is a possible factor.

SQUAMISH Swimmer’s body found

An RCMP dive team has recovered the body of a 20-year-old Delta man who went missing while swimming with friends in Alice Lake in Squamish on Wednesday night.

“Shortly after 1 p.m. the team located the body of the man,” said RCMP Cpl. Sascha Banks in a statement on Thursday

She said the lake remained closed Thursday afternoon.

Squamish RCMP have made contact with the man’s family, but his name isn’t being released.

Police received a call at around 8:15 p.m. from someone at Alice Lake, who heard people screaming about a man in the water.

Squamish RCMP, search and rescue and other emergency personnel searched for the man Wednesday night by ground, air and water.
