Two Metro Vancouver men have been sentenced after Delta police uncovered a huge fentanyl lab in Burnaby two years ago.

Scott Pipping of Surrey, 36, and Adam Summers, 28, of Richmond, both pleaded guilty to 17 offences, including trafficking in a controlled substance, possession for the purposes of trafficking, possession of restricted firearms and possession of restricted firearms without licences.

Pipping, of Surrey, received a sentence of 15 years and Summers, of Delta, received a five-year sentence on June 29.

During the investigation, police nabbed $1.5 million dollars in cash, nine firearms and large quantities of heroin, cocaine, oxycodone, methamphetamine and fentanyl were discovered during search warrants. It was also the first time the deadly opiate W-18 was discovered in B.C.

“These are significant sentences and they reflect the scope and impact of this lab,” said Delta police chief Neil Dubord.

Search warrants were executed at three locations in Burnaby, Richmond and Surrey, where evidence of drug trafficking was found at all locations.

In the Burnaby location, the police search revealed a large scale fentanyl laboratory where fentanyl was being combined with a cutting agent, coloured brown to replicate heroin and washed in acetic acid to make it smell like heroin.

At the time, Delta police Sgt. Sarah Swallow said the lab was one of the largest fentanyl labs seen in B.C. in terms of drug production.

She said the seizure put a huge dent in the production of the deadly drug.
