Carnival converting Triumph into Sunrise for early spring
Carnival is giving Carnival Triumph a dramatic makeover next spring. The changes to the 1999-built ship are so sweeping that when she emerges from dry dock, she’ll be given a new name: Carnival Sunrise.
This $200-million refurbishment will be of the stemto-stern variety, affecting nearly every public space, stateroom and deck.
Carnival will add a number of new dining and entertainment venues, along with two magnificent new suites perched high atop the navigation bridge. All staterooms and suites will be completely refitted and given the line’s soothing Caribbean-themed colour scheme and décor that can be found aboard the line’s newest vessels.
Carnival is also taking time to rethink the ship’s public spaces and on-board dining venues.
The new Carnival Sunrise will feature Carnival’s Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse experience along with the new Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse that debuted earlier this spring aboard Carnival Horizon.
Seafood mavens will love the new Seafood Shack à la carte restaurant added to the casual Lido Marketplace restaurant, while those with more adventurous tastes will want to try the sushi and sashimi at Bonsai Express.
New entertainment venues, like Carnival’s signature Piano Bar 88, are also being added. The ship will also have a new SportsSquare featuring a ropes course, jogging track, basketball area and golf course. The ship will also feature new waterslides and a splash park just for the kids, complete with a 75-gallon “Power Drencher” tipping bucket.
Carnival Sunrise will also sport new Cloud 9 Spa staterooms and suites that feature upgraded amenities and complimentary access to the ship’s thermal spa. Adults can also rejoice in the new Serenity Adults Only deck that features dedicated hot tubs and comfy chaise lounges. This great area is present on other Carnival ships.
If you still want to sail Carnival Triumph in her current form, you can do that up until the first bit of the new year.
On March 1, 2019, the ship goes into dry dock in Spain, emerging on her first revenue cruise from Norfolk, Virginia, on April 29, 2019. She’ll eventually reposition to New York for a series of summer voyages to Canada and New England and Bermuda before settling into her winter home port of Fort Lauderdale.
