Goop spreading into Canada
Gwyneth Paltrow’s often ridiculed lifestyle brand Goop is making a push into Canada.
Goop chief content officer Elise Loehnen announced this week that the wellness empire will bring its “In Goop Health” conferences to Canada in the fall. The ecommerce site will also expand to make products available for Canadians.
In honour of the Goopified summit in Vancouver on
Oct. 27, here’s a look at some
ridiculous recommendations Goop has made.
GOLD DUMBBELLS: We’ll ease you into the insanity with a simple pair of 18K gold dumbbells. The black and gold weights will help you lose a few pounds — and thousands
of dollars. The Goop-approved Hock Design Goldloft dumbbells cost US$125,000.
COFFEE ENEMA: The Internet lost its mind when the lifestyle gurus recommended the “Implant O-Rama System At-Home Coffee Enema” in a beauty and wellness detox guide. The kit was priced at $135, but Twitter users were not fans of “cleansing” their
rectums with coffee. VAGINAL STEAMING:
This unconventional beauty regimen recently made headlines thanks to model Chrissy Teigen, but Gwyneth Paltrow also touted the treatment on Goop a few years ago. Goop also sold the “Devi Steamer Seat” to clean your lady parts using hot water vapour for $55.
JADE EGGS: Looking to increase your sexual energy and pleasure? Buy this $66 jade egg and shove it up your hooha. The egg apparently “helps connect the second chakra (the heart) and yoni for optimal self-love and well being.” Goop’s advice was panned, particularly by doctors, who surprisingly don’t recommend you walk around with a jade egg in your vagina.
