INTERESTED IN A MEMORIAL BENCH?

VANCOUVER

Locations are available across the city. A personaliz­ed bench or picnic table costs $5,000 and will be in place for 10 years. Installati­on period takes between eight and 10 months. The plaque is limited to three lines of text and 40 characters per line. The plaque can be changed for a fee of $500. vancouver.ca/people-programs/dedicate-a-park-bench.aspx

WEST VANCOUVER

There is a waiting list for the city’s Tribute Bench Program, and waterfront park locations are no longer available. westvancou­ver.ca/government/get-involved/tribute-benches

DISTRICT OF NORTH VANCOUVER

The district’s park dedication program allows for funding of a bench, picnic table, tree, fountain, playground equipment or bicycle rack. Cost of a bench is $2,200 for 10-year term. dnv.org/recreation-and-leisure/ parks-dedication-program

SURREY

A handful of parks are no longer available for memorial benches in Surrey. However there are many that still have space, as do new parks that are being constructe­d. Cost is $2,500 (or $3,500 for a cast bench) and on a fixed 20-year term. surrey.ca/community/887.aspx

METRO VANCOUVER PARKS

Metro Vancouver’s commemorat­ive gift program is available in regional parks through the Pacific Parklands Foundation. Cost of a bench is $4,500 for a 15year term.
