Acura updates ILX for 2019 with new styling
The refresh of Acura’s ILX sedan for 2019 means every vehicle in its line wears the brand’s new Diamond Pentagon grille, and comes standard with its AcuraWatch active safety technology suite.
Styling and tech are the main two ways the ILX has been upgraded generally, too: the sport sedan gets more aggressive styling front and rear, as well as an A-Spec sport-appearance trim, and the dual-screen user interface inside gets better graphics, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
New 17-inch wheels are available, and A-Spec cars get their own exclusive 18-inchers. Five new colours are available (including an A-Spec-exclusive Apex Blue Pearl) and the seats have been reshaped.
A-Spec cars also get darkened chrome trim and a decklid spoiler.
The AcuraWatch suite, now standard across all the maker’s sedans and SUVs, includes lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking technologies, and there is quicker, more intuitive infotainment-system software.
Power still comes from a 201-horsepower 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, backed up by an eight-speed dualclutch transmission with paddle shifters. While all new from the A-pillars forward, the side profile and C-pillar remain generally unchanged aesthetically.
Acura is targeting millennials with the new ILX, noting the car has one of the highest in-segment take rates among that demographic. It goes on sale in October.
