Lottery dream home will have you in lap of luxury

Property in South Surrey’s Grandview Heights features infrared sauna, chef’s kitchen, home theatre and other ‘elegant’ features

- LIN STRANBERG

The elegant front door of the new B.C. Children’s Dream Lottery top home opens up a spacious 5,000 square feet of luxury living. On a large corner lot looking north “on the slope” in Surrey’s up-and-coming Grandview Heights neighbourhood, the dream home overlooks lush farmlands with stunning views of the North Shore Mountains on the horizon.

Created by the husbandand-wife, builder-designer team of Arvi and Jas Rai at MGR Group, the five-bedroom family home has wish list-worthy features like a built-in infrared sauna, a home gym, chef ’s kitchen with an oversized Thermador wall fridge plus a separate spice kitchen, home theatre with a 114-inch screen, wine cooler wall display unit and an elevator. The master bedroom has the feel of a hotel suite with a romantic Juliet balcony open to the great room and its coffered 21-foot ceiling. In turn, a wall of folding glass doors opens up the great room to let the outdoors in.

Sensational contemporary chrome and crystal chandeliers are attention-grabbing focal points, hanging from the high ceilings on all three levels.

“The chandeliers show the richness of the space and the detailing of the interior architecture,” said Jas. “When designing the home, I really thought about how I would want my own dream home to be and I took that as my guideline. Every inch of space is designed for luxury living.”

The house, although decidedly upscale, still exudes the warm and easy feel of a comfortable lifestyle.

“This home had a very elegant feel with beautiful chandeliers and marble throughout, so we built on that, adding a lot of texture and colour for a more casually elegant space,” said interior designer Debbie Heal of Sunrae Design. “We started off by finding a velvet fabric in a smoky blue at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, where we sourced all the furnishings. Thinking outside the box, we then separated the two sectional pieces with an end table in between. We flanked the fireplace with two chairs, creating a conversation grouping, then grounded the seating area with a round carpet.”

The generous proportions of the home and its multi-level living spaces will more than satisfy the varied demands of a busy contemporary family. With its fabulous recreational and functional features, this dream home will lift the spirits and lifestyle of the entire family fortunate enough to live here.
