This 1,000-hp Camaro is a nod to Yenko performance

- ALEX REID Driving.ca

A New Jersey Chevrolet dealership famous for tarting up Silverados, Corvettes and Camaros has just put the finishing touches on its latest creation: a tuned 1,000-horsepower 2019 Camaro.

In a nod to the Yenko performance upgrades done to Chevrolets in the late 1960s and early ’70s, this monster also bears the name of the famed Pennsylvania-based dealer.

The car is officially called the 2019 Yenko Stage II Camaro, and Specialty Vehicle Engineering in Jersey will build you one “no problem.”

You’re going to have to act fast and have cash in hand, though: SVE is only going to make 25 of them, and while prices have not been announced, they’re expected to be at least US$70,000 on top of the cost of the vehicle it’s based on, which is either a 1SS or 2SS with the 1LE track package (itself a US$7,000 option).

Ouch, that’s a lotta dough, but it’s pretty hard to get to 1,000 horsepower, and being able to buy one off-the-shelf is a pretty wild prospect. Unfortunately, a non-functional hood scoop and grille are the only type of hood scoop and grill you can have on your Stage II.

SVE previously has made other versions of the Camaro, including a Stage I, which only came with 825 hp, hardly enough in today’s world. If the 1,000-hp Stage II is the beast for you, check out the brochure for all the colours and fun accessories you can get, including “1000hp” trunk stickers, “Yenko” badges, and more stickers, so people know you’re gunning for that Dodge Demon.
