SAM BRADFORD GETS CUT:
Arizona released veteran QB Sam Bradford on Saturday. He’d started the Cardinals’ first two games. Arizona was Bradford’s fourth NFL team, after the St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. He has earned $130 million so far in the NFL.
RAIDERS WAIVE IRVIN:
Oakland’s defence got shredded by Thursday night by an undrafted San Francisco 49ers quarterback making his pro debut, Nick Mullens. Star Raiders outside linebacker Bruce Irvin, however, barely played. He was in for only nine snaps — just 16% of Oakland’s defensive plays. Apparently, Gruden decided Saturday that Irvin doesn’t fit any role, as the Raiders waived him. Irvin was Oakland’s highest-paid defender, with a $9-million 2018 salary.
FOR SURE PETERMAN:
The Buffalo Bills announced Saturday that two players concussed in Monday night’s loss to New England — QB Derek Anderson and rookie LB Tremaine Edmunds — are out for Sunday’s home game against Chicago. Nathan Peterman will make his fourth career start at QB for the Bills.
EXTRA POINTS: In other Saturday transactions, Green Bay downgraded WR Geronimo Allison (hamstring/groin) to out and did not travel to New England. Also, CB Tony Brown (hip) is now questionable.
