You’ll be out at least $10.9 million, but it could be a steal of a deal.

A luxurious 9,940-squarefoot property tucked away on Whistler’s Nita Lake is going up for international auction later this month for about half as much as it was previously listed for.

The furnished Chateau du Lac property will go to the highest bidder this month during an online auction that begins Dec. 14 and closes after a live auction in Hong Kong on Dec. 20.

“It really is an exquisite place to live,” seller Keith Lambert said in a promotion video created to market the property.

His wife Lindsay Lambert called it “the most welcoming and enjoyable place on earth.”

“We had some pretty fun parties here and the home is perfectly set up so it’s brilliant for entertaining,” she said.

The bidding price will start at $10.9 million; the property’s previous listed price was $19.8 million and before that $25.9 million. B.C. Assessment pegs the property’s value at $13.4 million, as of 2017.

The two-storey home at 2016 Nita Lane was built in 2000 and features a 5,570-sq.-ft stone château and 1,000 feet of lake frontage, which is about 20 per cent of the lakefront. There are five bedrooms spread out over 6,520 sq. ft, with five full bathrooms and one half-bath.

The home includes a two-storey foyer and dining room, a formal study and library with fireplace and en suite, as well as a home theatre and plenty of lakefront balcony seating. There’s also a 950-sq.-ft coach house with studio loft bedroom over the two-car garage.

Don’t forget the hot tub, barbecue grill and a gym. The property is within minutes of three golf courses and the Whistler Valley trail system, and just a two-minute drive to Whistler Creekside gondola and village.

“The unique aspect of this house coming up for sale is that it really is a generational opportunity,” Keith said. “You could not find this land anywhere, you could not build this house anywhere today.

“It really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone to buy this place.”

A $100,000 bidder deposit is required and the auction house has noted that B.C.’s foreign-buyer tax doesn’t apply to Whistler properties.
