Airwrap styler causes a buzz

- ALEESHA HARRIS

What it is: A hairstyling tool from Dyson that styles and dries hair simultaneously.

Engineered to perform on multiple hair types, the tool uses the Coanda Effect — when a flow of air attaches to a surface and remains attached, even when the surface curves — to dry, smooth and curl hair without the use of high, damaging heat.

Propelled by the Dyson digital motor, the Airwrap can be used to curl, wave, smooth and dry strands.

Available in three attachment sets targeting different strand needs: Smooth + Control, Volume + Shape and a Complete Styler featuring all available curling and combing nozzles.

What we say: The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer caused a buzz when it was first released — so it comes as no surprise that the new Airwrap is doing the same.

The unique styler, which can be used on pretty much any hair type, combines several styling steps into one, thanks to its drying/styling capabilities.

Our testers, both of whom have frizz-prone hair, were pleased with how well the Smooth + Control kit created curls that were smooth and held the style. (The tool’s Cool Shot, which gives a blast of cold air to heated, styled strands, was a big help with setting the style.)

The Coanda Effect wraps curls up around the wand (somehow, without tangling), holding the hair around the wand while the heated air works its magic. We tried it on both shoulder-length and longer hair and were impressed with the results.

While the Supersonic may still be the best Dyson option for those who are after a supersleek blowout, if you’re into a tool that offers quick-dry styling, as well as curls and waves — this latest release is the way to go. Where to get it: Hudson’s Bay; dysoncanada.ca What it will cost you:
