Bachelor hopeful sorry for ‘hurtful’ tweets
Tracy Shapoff will be vying for Colton Underwood’s heart on next season’s edition of The
Bachelor. But before she makes her bid to be the last woman standing, the wardrobe stylist is saying sorry.
Ahead of the premiere of Season 23, US Weekly reported that she made fun of people who participated on reality shows and fatshamed women in a series of old tweets.
In 2010, she tweeted, “Wish these fat old women on the treadmill would shut the hell up stop dancing and just work out.” In other social media messages, she used the R-word.
Shapoff also made fun of reality shows where people are looking for love.
“Do ppl really think they’re finding love on reality tv… or am I just the idiot that watches it?”
She has since deleted the tweets.
Shapoff took to Instagram to issue an apology that read in part, “I am not meanhearted or hurtful… I have a huge heart and a very open mind.”
She added, “I wholeheartedly reject all of those sentiments.”
Last season’s winner of
The Bachelorette, Garrett Yrigoyen, also faced controversy when fans of the show revealed that he had liked Instagram posts that had made fun of the transgender community, immigrants and others.
The Bachelor Season 23 premieres Jan. 7 on ABC and Citytv.
